Understanding Frequency

Hertz (Hz):

  • It’s the unit of frequency.

  • Represents the number of cycles per second.

  • If something happens 1 time in a second, it’s said to be at a frequency of 1 Hz.

Gigahertz (GHz):

  • “Giga” is a prefix that means a billion (1,000,000,000).

  • Therefore, 1 GHz is equal to 1 billion Hertz or 1,000,000,000 Hz.
